Air Leaks are a big problem in most facilities

Air leaks, as well as fluid leaks and water leaks, cost big bucks if left unchecked.

In a manufacturing facility that relies on air to power their machines, the air leak problem is three folds.

  1. If air is leaking at a hose or a fitting, the air pump needs to work harder to produce the same output. This compensation costs more in energy costs and can damage a pump from overuse.
  2. A machine that normally operates at a certain air pressure level (say, 100psi) that is only getting 80psi will perform at a substantially less efficient rate, if it works at all.
  3. Holes tend to get bigger and the structure around them tends to deteriorate if left unchecked.
We have developed a system for identifying, marking and repairing these leaks using out customizable leaktags and information boards. These tags and boards can be customizes for air leaks, hydraulic leaks, fluid leaks or just about any other kind of leak. In addition, your company or department information can be added and we can number tags for easy tracking.

Blog Action day gives bloggers a chance to make a difference

Today, we're participating in Environmental Blog Action Day:

http://blogactionday.org

From their website:

On October 15th - Blog Action Day, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone's mind.

In its inaugural year, Blog Action Day will be co-ordinating bloggers to tackle the issue of the environment.

What Each Blogger Will Do

Bloggers can participate on Blog Action Day in one of two ways:

  1. Publish a post on their blog which relates to an issue of their own choice pertaining to the environment.

For example: A blog about money might write about how to save around the home by using environmentally friendly ideas. Similarly a blog about politics might examine what weight environmental policy holds in the political arena.

Posts do not need to have any specific agenda, they simply need to relate to the larger issue in whatever way suits the blogger and readership. Our aim is not to promote one particular viewpoint, only to push the issue to the table for discussion.

  2. Commit to donating their day’s advertising earnings to an environmental charity of their choice. There is a list of "official" Blog Action Day charities on the site, however bloggers are also free to choose an alternate environmental charity to donate to if they wish.
Watch for a few posts today from our staff to see how we each contribute to a healthier world in our individual positions at AwarenessIDEAS. You'll hear from our designers, marketing, the president of the company and even our accounting department. Much like in every company, each person can make a difference.

I encourage anyone reading this blog who has a blog of their own to participate. No matter what your blog is about, you can write about your impact on the world, how you work to be green or anything else that comes to mind.
